A virtuoso pianist who was admired across Europe even as a young girl, Clara Wieck Schumann (she married great composer Robert Schumann) also composed many pieces during her youthful career. She began her piano concerto in early 1833 and ultimately finished it in 1836, at the grand age of 17! Filled with romantic themes and beautiful orchestration (the finale was orchestrated by Robert Schumann), this concerto is a pleasure for any pianist at an advanced intermediate or higher technical level. Brought out of obscurity by virtuoso concert pianists in the late 20th century, it is but one gem from this talented female composer.

Includes the complete Breitkopf & Härtel music book, edited by Victoria Erber, as well as a beautiful 4-page full-color foldout that goes into depth on the creation of this album and some background on the piece; a compact disc featuring a complete reference recording performed by Mr. Moyer for study and listening; and a full-speed accompaniment track minus you, the soloist. We’ve also included a slow-speed practice accompaniment to help you as you work up the piece!
